Rokudo-san, as it is popularly called refers to the six areas reserved for the deceased. Since the 10th century this temple has been known as a place to pray for the souls of commoners. As his descriptions of hell were so compelling, the Chinese scholar, courtier and poet Ono no Takamura was referred to as an emissary from the Hell King himself, Enma.

Powerful edge cutting gods are worshiped in these temples. All the resentment and vexation which swirling around visitors will be purified.


Kamigoryo Shrine
Shrines that subdued the harmful spirit. It is surrounded by dense forest.

Seimei Shrine
Hareaki Abe, a famous Yin and Yang professor, built a bright mansion over there.

Kitano-tenmangu Shrine
The shrine, which worships the god of knowledge, is a magnificent national measure building.

Terms and Conditions

  • Booking this tour on its own will incur a booking fee of $50 per person
  • Booking for this tour must be made at least 7 days prior to departure and is subject to availability
  • A non-refundable deposit is required within 7 days of booking
  • Minimum 2 people are required for this tour to go ahead
  • Full payment is required 45 days prior to travel
  • Depending on weather conditions, it may be substituted with walking tour. If the weather is not suitable for walking tour, tour will be cancelled or moved to another day depending on your schedule
  • Please make sure you are able to ride a bicycle prior to participating as cycling lesson is not included. High level is not required, as tour guide will pace the tour depending on your ability.
