Appi Kogen

Appi Kogen, labeled as the St Moritz or Aspen of Japan, is located in the far north-east of Honshu, Japan’s mainland, receiving an average of 8 metres of “aspirin powder snow’ (after it is smoothed down) from early December until early May. Majority of slopes are facing north which is great for snow conditions as keepings the direct sun away, making the snow light and dry. Slopes have 805 metres vertical rise from peak to base with 21 different trains, 12 of it being longer than 2 km, and the longest being 5.5 km. Lift system is quite extensive from 2 gondolas, 3 high speed quad chairs and 13 pair lifts. Appi is also a family friendly resort, with children’s ski and play area, childcare and lots of activities available to keep the kids entertained.

Appi Grand Villa 3

Appi Resort was developed during Japan’s economic boom and features many first class features and services, the Grand Tower being the main luxurious hotel. Appi Grand Villa 3 is a more casual resort but still has all the facilities including gift shop, vending machines, jacuzzi, steam sauna,  restaurants, ski rental store and internet facilities. Rooms are either Western style twin for up to two guests or Western and Japanese combination room for families or groups, all with ensuite facilities.

 

Access to Appi Kogen from Tokyo

Tokyo to Morioka: Bullet Train (by using your JR East Pass)
Morioka to Koma Station: Local train (pay direct additional AUD4 or so)
Koma to Appi Kogen: JR Local train (by using your JR East Pass)
Appi Kogen Station to Resort: Courtesy shuttle bus (please book with us prior to departure)
